Lagos: The Hustling City

Hi guys. I’m sorry I have been inactive but I promise it was due to circumstances beyond my control.

Today, I want us to take out time to appreciate Lagosians, especially those who live on the mainland. They are a rare breed. These people leave their homes as early as 5am to return as late as 10pm or 11pm; and they do these everyday. I really applaud their resilience.

I got an opportunity to attend a three week training  on the island. Yes,  I live in Lagos but I have never lived in Lagos as part of the working population; and for the better part of eight months,  I have lived in Abeokuta; believe me, it’s a different life there; kinda laid back. For the first two days, I was leaving home at the wrong time, so I get to training late and I still got home late at night (as late as 10pm). That weekend, I was ready to pack up and go back to Abeokuta but I thought of the people who do this everyday and I was ashamed of myself. I kept asking myself, if you can’t be resilient now, how do you plan to survive the workplace? My friends did convince me to continue but that thought kept me going.

And yes,  I have grown resilient and life is better. So I want us to take a page from the book of the Lagosians; learn to adapt to every situation and you’ll be better for it. Be resilient. Don’t give up on anything as long as you believe it is taking you one step ahead.

And that’s it for today. I hope you had a good read.

Wow!!! I can only imagine. Yeah that’s one reason I have the opinion that if you want to live on the island prepare to work on the island. And vise versa. Nice one dear.
