Dilemma: Entrepreneur OR Employee

Without even thinking, if you were asked to choose between pursuing your dreams of owning a business or settling with a paid job, a lot of us would choose the former, for obvious reasons.
Im not saying choosing one over the other is wrong. In fact, both are good options but it depends on what works for you. Trust me, what works for one person doesn’t work for another. A lot of people will tell you; it is better to pursue you dreams and own your business than to work for someone. True. Others would say, work for someone first to gain experience, then follow your dreams. Another valid opinion.

However, some of us are not wired to work for people. Yes. Some people just find it hard living that way. It doesn’t make you weird. In fact, that’s what makes you different. While some are that way, some are wired to take orders from people. They find fulfillment doing just that. That doesn’t make them any less special.

If everyone was a boss, who would be an employee? If everyone was an employee, who would be a boss? But one thing to put in mind when making these decisions is to ask yourself the following questions;

  • What makes me happy?
  • Does it make me feel relevant?
  • Can I handle the responsibility that comes with this decision?
  • Would I feel fulfilled if I make this decision?

If you can answer these questions, I believe you would be able to answer the next question I have for you.

A 9 – 5 that pays #500k monthly OR your dream business that pays #100k monthly?

Tough one yeah? I know. Both options have their own pros and cons.

My advice: start with a paid job and use the experience from that job to start your own business. To be a leader, one must first learn to follow.
